ABOUT

We are a Year Round Community Camp and Retreat Center open to all, owned and operated by the United Methodist Churches of Southeast Alaska. Eagle River United Methodist Camp (ERUMC), located “out the road”, is available for your small or large group camp or retreat. The camp is ideal for meetings, retreats, planning sessions, hiking, fishing, nature walks, bird watching, and church camps, as well as school and family camps. ERUMC is a great spot for cross country skiing, winter survival camp, environmental education, hunting education, and recharging ones spiritual batteries. Nestled among 100 year old spruce and hemlock trees, Eagle River United Methodist Camp located in southeast Alaska sets the mood for restful retreats or stimulating outings. Located on Glacier Highway approximately at the 27.5 mile, just over the Eagle River Bridge and just before Eagle Beach State Recreation Area, the forty-eight acre camp is easily accessible and offers a quiet and peaceful setting for group or family events. Within a five mile radius of the camp the topography goes from glacier ice to the salt water of the Lynn Canal making it an excellent location for outdoor camping, education and environmental studies. Marked trails lead to high adventure in wildlife and botanical study. Adjacent to the camp are the facilities at Eagle Beach and the trails to Herbert and Eagle Glaciers.

PROGRAMS

Eagle River United Methodist Camp (ERUMC) is pleased to open our retreat center to the community, and we are proud to annually host several camps.

CAMP GET READY: The camp board, friends of the camp, local church members and current and former campers come together to kick off the summer, and “wake up” the camp. Food, fellowship, fun and chores are the order of the day. All are welcome.
CAMP CHAMP: A secular camp for youth who would otherwise not have the opportunity to overnight in the wilderness and have the “camp” experience. By referral only.
DISCOVERY CAMP: For campers 3rd grade through 8th grade. A fun summer camp designed especially for youthful minds, Discovery Camp is just that: a place to discover God’s great creation, through a fun-filled activity camp with a strong spiritual emphasis. Campers will enjoy sports, games, archery, arts and crafts, nature activities outdoors, music and drama, new friends, evening campfires, and many other exciting activities.
COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING (CIT) PROGRAM: For teens entering 10th grade – completed 12th grade (under 18 years). This is an exciting program available for young adults in which they have the chance to develop leadership skills that will serve them throughout their lives. CITs work directly with campers and counselors and participate in all aspects of Winter Camp and Discovery Camp.

We hope you will join us for one of our retreats!
Further, many organizations rent our facilities to host summer camps. If you are looking for a camp, please contact the manager by using the links in CONTACT US section for questions.
